Motorhome & Caravan Manoeuvring Are you thinking of joining the thousands of people who enjoy caravan or motorhome holidays? Are you already enjoying the benefits of this lifestyle but leave all the driving to someone else? Or is it just pitching on a campsite you need help with?
Many people think they need to take a B+E test to be able to tow a caravan or a C1 test to drive a motorhome but this is not the case. The licencing rules have changed in recent years but you can tow a caravan with a car as long as the combined weight (Maximum Authorised Mass or MAM) of both does not exceed 3500kg and you can drive a motorhome on a car licence as long as the MAM does not exceed 3500kg.
This is great news for the leisure vehicle industry and you will find that more and more caravans and motorhomes are now built lighter so that new customers do not need to take an additional test. However, it does not remove the need for awareness training if you have never towed a trailer or caravan before or driven a larger vehicle.
Felicity's Driver Training offers bespoke courses to help you gain confidence when towing or driving a larger vehicle at home and abroad.
